ECAC Tabs Lehigh's Sweeney As Softball Player of the Year
Lehigh junior Lisa Sweeney capped off a record-setting 2008 season by being named ECAC Division I Softball Player of the Year, it was announced on Wednesday. Sweeney was named a second team ECAC All-Star as a pitcher, and garnered Player of the Year honors by way of her being named Patriot League Player and Pitcher of the Year last month.

Lehigh's Sweeney Earns Softball Academic All-America Honors
Lehigh junior Lisa Sweeney has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team, it was announced on Wednesday. Following her record-setting season in the pitcher's circle and at the plate, Sweeney was recognized for her impressive work in the classroom, where she boasts a 3.79 cumulative GPA as a history major.

Lehigh downs Princeton 7-4; eliminated by UMass
After keeping its season alive with a 7-4 win over Princeton, Lehigh saw its season come to an end with a 3-1 loss to UMass Saturday at the NCAA Regional at the UMass Softball Complex. Junior Lisa Sweeney went 2-for-3 with three RBI and picked up the win in the circle to keep the Mountain Hawks alive against Princeton, but against the host UMass, the Minutewomen built a 3-0 lead and staved off a seventh inning Lehigh rally. The Mountain Hawks' season comes to an end at 39-17-1.

Lehigh Drops NCAA Softball Tournament Regional Opener To Stanford
Stanford's Missy Penna struck out 14 batters to pick up her 35th win of the season as the Cardinal blanked Lehigh 4-0 in the opening game of the NCAA Amherst Regional Friday at the UMass Softball Complex. The Mountain Hawks hung tough with the No. 12 national seed all day but managed just four hits off Penna as they fall to 38-16-1 on the season. Lehigh will play an elimination game against either UMass or Princeton on Saturday.
