CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Bryan Johnston, the 2002 Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, recorded a 3.75 grade-point average (GPA) during the fall semester and was among the 46 student-athletes named to the 2002 Patriot League Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll, announced today by Carolyn Schlie Femovich, Patriot League Executive Director. Four men's cross country student-athletes tallied perfect 4.00 GPAs last semester, including American senior Jose Morales, AU sophomore Matthew Barresi, Bucknell senior Andrew Dinsmore and Lafayette sophomore Kevin Penderghest.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the seven League-sponsored fall championship sports.

A total of 510 student-athletes were named to the League's Fall Academic Honor Roll, including 20 with 4.00 GPAs. The Fall Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

Bucknell led the way with 111 candidates on the League's Fall Academic Honor Roll. On the Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll, the Bison captured the most spots with 18 and Lehigh finished second with 13 student-athletes on the list.
